Meet the ATL-Team!

The Georgia Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) has assembled a team of dedicated individuals intent on making this Conference a memorable event.

This team is led by our conference co-chairs, Karyn Matthews and Scott Jordan.  Karyn and Scott are joined by Tim Matthews, Richard Meehan, and  Mindy Sanders who will act as conference champions, acting as advisors and helping to manage inter-committee needs.

The ATL-Team Committee Chairs are the essence of what makes the conference hit the ball out of the park! These dedicated individuals will plan everything down to the last detail to ensure that from the moment guest first hear about the conference until the final guest heads home.  They will ensure that guests are informed, interested, and welcomed at every turn.

If you’ve been to other ASHE National Conferences, you’ll likely recognize several of these folks.  We can’t wait to welcome y’all to the ATL!

Karyn has been an ASHE member since early in her career.  She served as one of the first Social Committee Chairs and as Section Secretary and Director.  In 2015, she was named Volunteer of the Year for the ASHE Georgia Section.  Karyn was co-chair of the Transportation Committee during the 2009 ASHE National Conference here in Georgia.  She currently serves as a Project Manager and District Engineer for Cobb County DOT, home of the planned location for this Conference.

Scott has been a Georgia ASHE member for over 10 years.  He got his start as the Membership Committee Chairs for several years before becoming a Georgia Section Director for three years.  In 2016, he was named Member of the Year for the ASHE Georgia Section.  Scott was the chair of the Guest Program Committee for the 2009 ASHE National Conference that was held in Georgia.  Scott also served as the Southeast Region’s Vice President, President and Past President before becoming a National Director for the Southeast Region in which he is currently in his last year of his first three year term. He currently is the Transportation Director for Southeastern Engineering, Inc. as small multifaceted women owned civil engineering firm that is located in for Northeast Cobb County, home of the planned location for this Conference.

Tim’s history with ASHE extends from early chapter involvement as event planning for the Section to Section President to the current National 1st Vice President. He is the MMIP (Major Mobility Improvement Projects) Program Manager at Georgia Department of Transportation. His leadership and program management experience will help steer the Team to success.
Mindy Sanders

More About Mindy
Mindy has been an active member of ASHE Georgia since 2001 and a former Chapter President.  She has developed the custom, database driven membership website for the Georgia Section. Using this skillset, she is responsible for developing the website and registration modules for the 2023 ASHE National Conference Website, as she did for the 2009 Conference.

She is a graduate of University of Central Florida and Georgia Institute of Technology and has 22 years of transportation design and project management experience.

Richard has served as the Georgia section’s President, Vice President, treasurer, secretary, and served as the Social Committee Chair. His background in each of these roles has prepared him for the integral role as the Finance Chair of the 2023 Conference.

Jared began his career in right of way acquisition with the Georgia DOT. He is now a right of way consultant serving clients across the state. For the past 3 years Jared has been an active member with the ASHE-Georgia Section and has recently assumed the role of Director Year 2 and is integral to the event planning process for our section.

Jason is currently the Vice President of Business Development for Evercast and its subsidiary brands and General Manager to Seminole Precast LLC. Jason has served in a national capacity representing two different Precast Concrete companies prior to joining Evercast. Jason served as a Director of Technical Resources at Forterra, Inc. and as Project Consultant at Foley Products Company and has a total of 12 years’ experience in precast. Before precast, Jason worked as a Bridge Contractor and has over 12 years’ additional experience in the Bridge market and a total of 27 years’ in construction.

Jason participates in many industry associations including the GA Chapter of American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) where he has served on the Board as well as currently serves on the National Board for ASHE, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) serves in several state and local chapters, American Council of Civil Engineers (ACEC), American Standards of Testing & Materials (ASTM) serves on several key committees and voting rights in the interest of precast products as well as a Committee Member of the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA).

Jason is a native of Georgia and still resides there with his wife Tracy and three girls. He attended Southern Tech for a degree in Civil Engineering and enjoys hunting and golf with his family and friends in his free time.

Brad is the current treasurer for ASHE Georgia. Through this experience and his role as a project manager, he has tackled similar logistics and contracts issues that are necessary for the Facilities Chair of a major conference. He is responsive and shrewd so will do well when it it is time to negotiate costs for the event location and finalize arrangements.

Ashley has been a member of ASHE Georgia Section for over 20 years. She has been involved with the Georgia Section annual summer golf tournament since the early 2000s. She started as a volunteer and took on the Golf Committee Chair position in 2011.

Cindi has been an active volunteer with ASHE Georgia for several years – helping in the planning and running of Section Social Events. She has recently accepted the demanding role as the Section’s Social Chair. She has come to this role with tremendous enthusiasm and would not allow any detail to go overlooked as the Guest Program Chair.

Holly has a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University in Civil Engineering. Holly is currently a senior project manager, associate, and board member at KCI Technologies. Holly has been an active member of the Georgia section of ASHE since 2009.During this time, she has held many roles including Social Chair and Director for the Georgia Board. She served as the SE Region Secretary for 4 years and currently serves as the SE Region Vice President. She is also serving on the National 2023 Strategic Planning Committee.

Lindsey Dunnahoo has a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in civil engineering and a master’s degree from Kansas State University in engineering management. She works at AECOM and has been a member of ASHE since 2015. Lindsey has been involved in the planning for ASHE Georgia’s annual joint Winter Workshop conference with ITE Georgia since 2015, serving as the technical committee chair in 2017 and the conference chair in 2018. In addition, she is currently serving as 1st Vice President for our Section. This combined experience will bring success to her role as Program Chair for the Conference.

Sasha Ugi serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Croy Engineering, a Georgia-based consulting engineering firm with six offices across the Southeast. In this role, she leads public relations, social media, branding, marketing, proposal development, and community relations for the 150-person firm. Sasha’s career has spanned marketing and communications roles in economic development, a non-profit trade association, and the private sector, as well as the development and management of Engineering Georgia magazine. She was named one of Georgia’s 2019 “Women in the Know” and volunteers with several industry and charitable initiatives including the Junior League of Atlanta, Cobb Chamber of Commerce, and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia (ACEC Georgia). She currently serves as ASHE Georgia’s Communications Chair and will undoubtedly be an amazing Chair of the Publicity Committee for the 2023 National Conference.

Ravi has been an active member with the ASHE-Georgia Section for the past 5 years and has recently assumed the role of Director Year 3. Originally from South Carolina, Ravi received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Clemson University and has worked as a Roadway designer since moving to Georgia. Tasked with training and mentoring the junior staff in the transportation department, his responsiveness and problem-solving skills are a welcome addition to the team.

Shawn is the current 2nd Vice-President for the ASHE Georgia Section. He has been an active member with the Section since the early 2000’s and within that time has served in several capacities. He will be a tremendous asset to the ATL-Team as the Transportation Chair.
